Drizzled over avocado… Simply cut an avocado in half, season with some salt and pepper, and drizzle some delicious balsamic vinegar on top. It’s the perfect combination of sweet, savoury, salty and sour – and a quick, healthy afternoon snack!
To make beautiful caramelised onions… We promise these will be the most amazing onions you’ve ever tasted – the perfect addition to your hamburger. Heat oil in a large frypan over low heat. Add the onions and a good pinch of salt and cook very slowly for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent them from burning. When onions are softened and tinged golden, add sugar and a splash of balsamic vinegar, and cook for further 5 – 10 minutes until sticky and caramelised. Enjoy!
In cocktails… Yes you read right, balsamic vinegar works great in some cocktails to really stretch out flavours. Try the Fig Old Fashioned:
1 fresh fig
1 shot bourbon
1/2 shot fresh-squeezed orange juice
1/3 shot maple syrup
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
Muddle fig & maple syrup, shake with other bourbon, oj, balsamic, double strain & serve…
Reduce your balsamic vinegar to a syrup… Simply simmer a basic balsamic vinegar in a saucepan, with some sugar, and even a cinnamon stick. Let it reduce to a syrup and drizze over vanilla ice-cream with fresh strawberries. It is a bit out of the ordinary – but sharp, tangy and different.
When roasting veggies… Now that winter has started, the nights are getting colder and roasted veggies are back on the menu! For a more gourmet version of this popular comfort food, top veggies with chopped pecans, crumbled feta and fresh parsley, and drizzle with balsamic vinegar before serving
